PROGRAMs PACE

Butts County Public Schools

Butts County Public Schools (BCPS) has a mission to provide an environment where students and adults expect more and become more. The Butts County Early Learning Council developed an early learning plan that serves as the framework for the implementation of PACE in Butts County. BCPS serves 69 PACE children through the Butts County Family Enrichment Center. All 69 participants of the program are English-speaking and 26 of the total children receive Light Touch services.  The Butts County hub staff consists of 1 hub supervisor and 2 parent educators.

The core value of the PACE program in Butts County is the belief that family strengths are as important to a child's future success as are structured preschool experiences.  The center welcomes parents of young children from all socioeconomic levels to participate in activities.  All programs and services are free of charge and completely voluntary.  Butts County is a rural county located 50 miles south of Atlanta.   According to the 2010 Georgia county guide, the total estimated population of the county in 2009 was 24,423 and the county ranked 73 of 159 in size.

Of the 24,423 Butts County residents:

  • 72.1% are Caucasian
  • 26 % are African American
  • 2.4% are Hispanic or Latino
  • 0.82% are classified as "Other"

Once enrolled in the Butts County PACE program, a child will have the opportunity to participate in the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy. This foundation provides books for local communities to prepare all Georgia pre-school children for reading and learning success. Monthly books will be delivered to all participants and county residency applies.  For more information visit www.ferstfoundation.org.
