Coweta County Public Schools
The Coweta County Early Learning Council developed an early learning plan that serves as the framework for the implementation of the three core strategies of PACE in Coweta County. Coweta County Public Schools (CCPS) serves as a PACE hub impacting children and families who feed into the Jefferson Parkway and Ruth Hill Elementary school systems as well as children served by Breakaway Child Development Center. PACE hub staff include 1 hub supervisor and 2 parent educators.
PACE is implemented through the Grow and Learn Family Enrichment center which helps parents build a strong foundation for their child’s future success in school and life. The enrichment center provides the following services for parents in the Jefferson Parkway Elementary and Ruth Hill Elementary school districts. Services include:
-
Personal Visits: During personal visits a parent educator will share age appropriate child development and parenting information to help parents learn to observe their child and address any parenting concerns
-
Developmental Screenings: Developmental screenings offer parents a quick and effective way to look at how their child is learning and growing in the areas of health, vision, hearing, physical development, intellectual and social-emotional development.
-
Lending Library: Resources are available for families to use at home such as books on parenting and other interests, toys and books for young children. Certified Parent Educators will assist parents in making selections that are developmentally appropriate for children.
-
Group Meetings: Group meetings and parent/child activities opportunities to share information about parenting issues and child development. Parents learn and support each other, observe their children with other children and practice parenting skills in a group setting.
-
Resource Networks: Parent Educators help connect families to needed resources and help them overcome barriers to accessing those services. Parent Educators take an active role in the community and establish on-going relationships with other institutions and organizations that serve families.
Once enrolled in the Coweta County PACE program a child will have the opportunity to participate in the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy. This foundation provides books for local communities to prepare all Georgia pre-school children for reading and learning success. Monthly books are delivered to participants of the Ferst Foundation and county residency applies.
