Scottdale Child Development and Family Resource Center

Scottdale Child Development and Family Resource Center (SCDC) is a NAEYC-accredited, high quality early care and education program serving children ages six weeks through 5 years located in DeKalb County, Georgia.  Scottdale aims to enhance the total development of young children while strengthening their families and communities.  SCDC is widely recognized as a leader in metropolitan Atlanta in providing family-supportive early care and education, and are actively involved in mentorship, training, and advocacy for early care and education throughout DeKalb County. In 2011, Scottdale served 38 PACE children, 95% of whom where Black or African-American. 19 of the children received Light Touch services.

In 2002-2008, Scottdale was part of the SPARK Georgia Initiative which helped communities in DeKalb and Gwinnett counties combine resources to better prepare children for school, specifically targeting children ages 3-6 who were vulnerable to poor achievement.  After SPARK, Scottdale became a "learning lab" for the PACE Initiative and continued to implement the three strategies of PACE - home visitation, school transition and parent leadership.  Like Refugee Family Services and Families First, Scottdale was titled as a "learning lab" to serve as a model hub for replication of the PACE Initiative in future hub sites.  In 2011, Scottdale became an active member of PACE's early learning network and continues to enjoy United Way support.
